I must admit that I never really considered buying a standalone speaker dock for iPhone or iPod. This is probably because I do not really have a need for one. I love listening to music through a home theater audio system I have spent many years building, but a friend recently asked me to name the best iPod dock, I am lined up several best.
There are a zillion cheap iPod docks out there, but my friend is chasing a port of a reasonable quality. In the world of A / V electronics in general the more you spend on the product, the more rewards you in sound quality and features department. With this in mind, brands that have come into consideration are the Arcam rCube ($ 998), Bowers & Wilkins (B & W) Zeppelin air ($ 799), a Geneva Sound System - Model S ($ 499). Arcam and B & W, two highly respected British brand, a Geneva Sound System Model S is the Swiss.
Since Arcam audio heritage and their strong AV products, I was surprised when he pulled Arcam rCube What Hi-Fi award for the best iPod dock in 2010.

, which I would lay down my credit card? B & W Zeppelin air. Why? This is a superb port from a quality brand with a great feature set. If I had to predict who will agree to take the prize for the best iPod dock in 2011, I would be putting my money on B & W Zeppelin air.
